Stepping Up to Times of Crisis; An Interview with Endeavor Entrepreneur Scott Harris

We spoke to Endeavor Entrepreneur Scott Harris, founder and CEO of DeliverLean to hear about how they are helping the South Florida community during the COVID-19 outbreak.

How is DeliverLean supporting citizens in South Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic?

We have two incredible partnerships that I’m very proud of.

DeliverLean has a contract with Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Miami-Dade County to feed the most at risk people of our community – seniors. We are currently delivering to over 4,000 seniors’ homes daily within the county. Mayor Gimenez and Miami-Dade are doing an incredible job taking care of the seniors in the community.

Additionally, our charitable division, DeliverLean Cares, has partnered with the Overtown Youth Center Founder and NBA Hall-of-Famer Alonzo Mourning to help the South Florida community. We are offering free breakfast and lunch at Gibson Park [401 NW 12th Street, Miami, FL 33136] from 9am-1pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Meals are handed out on a first come, first served basis. We will be expanding this effort to more locations in the next few weeks so we can continue to help as many people as possible during this crisis.

How many people are you currently providing meals to?

As of right now, we are delivering to up to 4,000 seniors’ homes per day in coordination with Miami-Dade County. Meals are prepared in our 60,000 SF USDA Certified facility daily and delivered weekly to seniors. Each person receives 10 meals weekly, to their door with absolutely no contact.

Plus, we have committed to donating 1,500 meals a week through our partnership with the Overtown Youth Center.

How can the community support you?

Visit deliverleancares.com for more information on what we’re doing and how you can get involved. Stay tuned as we will likely be needing volunteers soon.

How can seniors subscribe to the service?

All seniors have to do is dial 311 to get their delivery set up. They must reside in Miami-Dade County to be eligible.
